A short note to say many congratulations to Rachel Burrows who organised the Headstrong Ride on Sunday – a year after suffering horrendous injuries in a bike accident.
Rachel was aiming for 106 riders – one for each NHS worker who helped her on the path to recovery – and managed to sign up an impressive 123 people to take part.
She also smashed her fundraising target. Rachel originally hoped to raise £1,000 for the Midlands Centre for Spinal Injuries (MCSI), but the current total stands at £2,260.03 (and rising!).
As I was in Wales celebrating my birthday and my sister’s birthday, I was unable to join the official ride.
But I did manage the same distance on the coast road between Cardiff and Newport with my sister Karen – the first time in about 30 years that we’ve been out on our bikes together!
