You have to hand it to Sepp Blatter, president of Fifa, he has almost cornered the market in ill-judged sporting soundbites.
The foot-in-mouth diseased football big-wig has waded into the preposterous saga surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo’s “will he, won’t he, who bloody cares?” transfer from Manchester United to Real Madrid.
Blatter’s unique take on the whole grubby business is that [...]

Feel-good story of the day has to be Aston Villa’s decision to pass up the big bucks in favour of supporting a Birmingham-based charity.
The football club’s shirt sponsors for next season will be Acorns, which operates children’s hospices in the Midlands and has struggled in recent years to secure sufficient funding to maintain all its [...]

The road to Wembley and the FA Cup Final has been quite an eventful one for Cardiff City and its fans

The BBC’s psuedo-news output on BBC1 this morning had an item on the search for the best football chant.
The item, brought to us in the usual superficial style we expect from the Beeb’s various info-tainment programmes, was by sports news hound Mike Bushell.
There were various renditions of witty (sic) terrace chants.

The pressures on Paul Gascoigne have been mounting since he first started to cause excitement on a football pitch and arguably they increased still further when he was simply unable to carry on playing the game he loves.
The decision to section Gazza under the Mental Health Act will, hopefully, see him finally get the professional support [...]
