The obesity epidemic gripping the UK has now swapped species.
According to the latest study, the country’s pet cat population is experiencing soaring rates of diabetes.
Cat owners are now being warned they must not over-indulge their feline pets and should moderate the amount of treats they dish out to their pampered moggies.
As if that is going to work.
Although a committed dog lover I now find myself the owner of a half-share in a large-boned cat, who has a tendency to inflict injury on himself if we dare to spend a couple of days away. It has become all too apparent that we are not in charge of our cat on any level.
Cats will be active and will moderate their eating habits if they feel like it. If they don’t feel like it, talk to the paw because the cat ain’t listening.
