It is not always easy being a rugby fan from Wales.

And being a Cardiff supporter has heaped plenty more misery on top in recent years.

But on Saturday something happened to put a smile on my face that is still here on Monday and might well last all week.

It was this try from Leigh Halfpenny, the first of seven Cardiff Blues scored in beating Gloucester 50-12 in the EDF Cup Final at Twickenham on Saturday.

This is how I like rugby to be played and Cardiff produced 80 minutes of it – more highlights here.

I’m a simple bloke and rugby can be a simple and very exciting game, as Cardiff proved on Saturday.

Thanks for putting a smile on my face.

On behalf of Gloucestershire Scots and all those supporters of Gloucester Rugby, may I be permitted a small “Bah” ?
